Clipping - and the way they might look at you

Fri, Sep 2, 2016, 10:04

Hazel English “I’m Fine” (House Anxiety)

A track as bright and zesty as a late summer sunbeam from the Oakland singer’s forthcoming album “Never Going Home”.

Jagwar Ma “Give Me A Reason” (Mom+Pop)

A track with a seriously infectious XL groove from the Australian psychopop killers’ soon-come second album “Every Now & Then”, inspired by the Beastie Boys and “Paul’s Boutique”

Dua Lipa “Blow Your Mind (Mwah)” (Warner Bros)

A kick-ass tune from someone who seems to have all the goods required to make a splash and a half in 2017 and beyond.

Bacao Rhythm & Steel Band “Laventille Road March” (Big Crown)

The drums are extra loud as the Steel Band get wicked on the German band’s punchy, gritty odyssey.

Night Flowers “Glow In the Dark” (Dirty Bingo)

Indie pop with a strong sense of groove and atmosphere from the rising London five-piece

Men I Trust “Lauren” (Self release)

Quebec band providing all the chilled-out kicks and fuzzy bass goodness

Clipping “Splendour & Misery” (Sub Pop)

The follow-up to 2014′s “CLPPNG” from Daveed Diggs, Jonathan Snipes and William Hutson does not disappoint with this deep, dense and hypnotic concept album about the escape of the sole survivor of a slave uprising on an interstellar cargo ship. “Baby Don’t Sleep” from the album below.

Bjarki “I Wanna Go Bang” (Trip)

The Icelandic producer on Nina Kraviz’s Trip label gets twitchy with a sad-eyed Arthur Russell sample in the midst of an edgy groove. Playing Collate at The Bunatee, Belfast on September 9.

The Avalanches “BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix” (Sonndcloud)

All the fun of the fair on the mix mix to play loud on the road to Stradbally with The Avalanches taking a ride to the far side.

Rampage Sound “Carnival Mix” (Mixcloud)

Or, if you prefer, you can join the Rampage crew as they get things going in a Carnival style.
