New Music – Pumarosa, Joon Moon, Angus Dawson
Your new music selections for this week from London, Paris and Perth
Every week, we highlight a couple of new acts from around the globe who’ve caught our attention. Please feel free to share tips below or check out all past New Music selections here.
A London five-piece with groove in their heart, Pumarose’s big jam “Priestess” them out as a band who already know how to make all the right noises and moves. Led by singer and guitarist Isabel Munoz-Newsome, Pumarosa can be expected to land more rattles like this in the months to come.
A timely collaboration in Paris between Kansas singer (and collaborator with Hercules & Love Affair and Rufus Wainwright) Krystle Warren and Nouvelle Vague handyman Julien Decoret, Joon Moon are already producing languid, mysterious, layered pop full of surprise and expectation. Debut single “Apple Day” is a beautiful teaser, a track which coos and whispers with laidback know-how.
All aboard for Perth where you’ll find Angus Dawson at work and play. The producer’s latest track “Battles” is an atmospheric pop humdinger, a track where Dawson is deploying any different strengths in pursuit of smart perfection. For those in search of more where that came from, head to “Close My Eyes”, his track from last year with Anna O.
