Joel Compass

The London r’n’b adventure-seeker is making waves with his new “Astronaut” EP for Black Butter. It’s full to the brim with dramatic hooks, lovelorn laments, infectious twists and darkly effective jams. Expect to see him on every Sound of 2014 list that matters in the next few months.

“Slow Love” is the track which has us wowing about London singer Lucy Taylor. A big-room pop tune with a heart of gold, “Slow Love” will remind you of Nordic divas like Robyn and Annie. It all bodes well for the future for Taylor, who has also worked with Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke and played flite on MGMT’s “Electric Feel”

East Of Ely

It doesn’t take long for Sydney band’s debut single “Easy Friend” to work its magic on you. A shimmering, sweet, crafty slab of radio-friendly alt-pop magic, “Easy Friends” sounds like the work of a band soaring to the skies. Heaven knows what their next few singles will sound like.
