Bohemians name Callaghan as new boss

Soccer:Bohemians have appointed Aaron O'Callaghan as their new manager after Pat Fenlon's recent move to Scotland to take the reins at Hibernian.

The 45-year-old has worked as coach tutor with the FAI and has held a number of positions at both League of Ireland and Irish league clubs. Most recently, he was a first-team coach with St Patrick’s Athletic.

During his playing career, Callaghan spent 10 years in England, spending time at Stoke City, Oldham Athletic, Crewe Alexandra and Preston North End.

A defender, he was capped for Ireland at under-21 level and also played with Shelbourne, St Patrick's Athletic, Dundalk, Longford Town and Irish League outfit Crusaders.

Callaghan’s first task will be to assemble a squad for the new season at Dalymount Park and Bohemians president Chris Brien believes his early appointment will help in that regard.

“We are delighted to have secured a manager in good time for the start of the new season,” said Brien.

“Aaron Callaghan has strong knowledge of the League of Ireland and will bring broad experience to the job. We welcome him to the club and we are sure our supporters will wish him well.”
