Labour Court deal ends Roadstone strike

Workers and management reach agreement on bonus payments

Workers at CRH subsidiary, Roadstone Wood have accepted Labour Court recommendations that will end a three-week strike over bonuses at the building materials company.

The company cut bonuses ranging from €3,686 for salaried staff to €5,832 for craft workers by almost 90 per cent in 2012 in an attempt to cut costs.

The dispute blew up when workers sought to have the payments restored at a faster rate than the company had proposed. The strike began on June 16th.

Davy Lane, organiser with trade union, Siptu, said yesterday the staff involved had voted to accept recommendations that resulted from Labour Court talks between the parties.
