WIT issues reminder of 1916 Bursary deadline

1916 Bursary worth €5000 on an annual basis for recipients

Prospective students wishing to apply for one of 35 1916 scholarships are being advised to apply before next week’s deadline.

The scholarships are worth €5,000 for each year of their undergraduate programme of study up to a maximum of €20,000 for full-time students and a maximum of €30,000 for part-time students.

Waterford Institute of Technology (WIT), which is one of five colleges offering participating in the 1916 Bursary scheme has announced that Friday, 30th August 2019 is the closing date for the expression of interest.

The bursary was established by the Department of Education and Skills to encourage participation by students who are economically disadvantaged and who are from communities significantly underrepresented in higher education.

“The 1916 Bursary is worth €5000 on an annual basis for each recipient for the duration of their full time or part time course here in WIT. There are two stages to the application process and the first stage is a straight forward expression of interest application form which is open until 5pm on the 30th of August,” said Robin Croke, Access Project Co-ordinator at WIT.

Further information on the eligibility criteria is available on the WIT website. To qualify, succesful applicants will need to meet certain key criteria. They must be new to higher education and progressing to higher education for the first time in the 2019-2020 academic year.
