Dungarvan Colleges 2-21 Templemore 1-11:Ryan Donnelly was the two-goal hero for Dungarvan Colleges as the Waterford outfit claimed the Dr Harty cup for a second successive year in front of an attendance of 3,000 at Sean Treacy Park in Tipperary town.

Dungarvan put the Tipperary opposition to the sword once again as Donnelly, one of seven survivors from the starting team against Nenagh CBS in 2012, netted in the 35th and 53rd minutes.

Dungarvan were brilliant in the second half and overpowered their rivals 2-13 to 1-3 after the sides were level at 0-8 apiece at half-time.

Another of last year’s Harty winners, Patrick Curran, hit 0-8 yesterday and the winners had scoring contributions from eight players in total.

The only black spot for Dungarvan was the serious-looking shoulder injury sustained by Colin Dunford which threatens his participation in the All-Ireland series.

Templemore will take solace from the fact that Nenagh CBS bounced back from last year’s Harty Cup final defeat to end the season as All-Ireland champions.

They never stopped trying until the final whistle but Dungarvan were simply too strong. John McGrath, brother of Tipp senior star Noel, hit 0-5 for Templemore but the absence of centre back Joe Nyland with an ankle injury was a major setback to their hopes.

John Joe Ryan scored a consolation goal for Templemore in the 56th minute.
