Hockey:New Ireland men's coach Paul Revington will get a sneak preview of his charges when he travels to Banbridge later this month for a series of games against Scotland.
Although he does not take up his position until early next year, Revington in the three games, which include two test matches against the Scots.
The Irish women's team will also take on their Scottish counterparts at Havelock Park, playing three Test matches.
Director of High Performance, Dave Passmore, believes the series will give Revington an ideal opportunity to gauge what talent he has at his disposal before he takes up his role.
"These matches come at the perfect time after Paul's appointment. He will be able to view just about all the most talented Irish players over the course of the matches and observe them carefully on and off the pitch," said Passmore
Former South African coach Revington is delighted with the opportunity.
"I am really looking forward to a very important initial ten days in Ireland and within Irish hockey circles and most importantly, getting to meet the players personally for the first time."
