A 19-year-old man was arrested by police in Tyrone following a stabbing incident which left a 38-year-old man in a critical condition in hospital.

The man was attacked outside a pub on Main Street in Dromore, Co Tyrone. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance where he has been described as criticallyill.

Part of Dromore Main Street and the town's by-pass remained sealed off todayas forensic experts examined the scene.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 20-year-old man was stabbed in westBelfast as he made his way home from a night out.

The man was walking with a friend when both men were confronted and chased bya group of five to seven men near the junction of the Old Whiterock Road andSpringfield Road.

The victim was caught by his pursuers before receiving a stab wound to theback. Police have appealed for anyone with information about the incident tocontact them.
