Hundreds of people have joined in the search for a 15-year-old girl missing from her home in Limerick.

Chloe Kinsella from Kenyon Avenue in Kileely, Limerick, was last seen on Saturday night.

The teenager is believed to have left her home via her bedroom window at about 8.20pm and has not been seen since.

Speaking at the family home yesterday her sister Linsey (23) said it was totally out of character for her not to come home at night.

“She’s just like any normal 15 year old girl, She loves her style and her makeup. It is very unusual for her to go off like this. She would never stay away from home. ”

The fifth year student is the youngest girl in a family of nine children and she has four older sisters and four brothers.

Hundreds of people took part in searches over the weekend and much of the search yesterday was concentrated on the river and bank land areas.

The Shannon-based Rescue 115 Coast Guard Helicopter was dispatched to search the River Shannon and the Limerick Marine Search and Rescue Service was also drafted in to carry out water searches.

Meanwhile, comedian Pat Shortt issued an appeal yesterday for the public’s help in tracing actor Gerry McCann, who went missing last Thursday.

The actor was being treated for anxiety and went missing from the St John of God hospital in Stillorgan last Thursday.

The missing man has “fair short spiky hair, a little bit of weight on and a very soft-natured face”, Shortt said. Members of the public may recognise him from the film Life’s a Breeze, where he appeared in a dole office scene with Shortt or from past appearances as character Pascal’s carer in Fair City, he said.

Mr McCann is described as being about 175cm (5’ 9”) tall, of medium build with blonde to grey hair. He was wearing charcoal grey jumper, brown trousers and brown shoes when last seen. He was last seen in Stillorgan at 10am on Thursday. It is believed that he then went to the Ballsbridge area as his phone pinged at a mast in the area on Thursday.

The married father of two lives in Baldoyle, Dublin and his children are aged six and five.
