Explosive device made safe in North

A small explosive has been found outside a chapel in Newtownabbey in Co Antrim.

A small explosive has been found outside a chapel in Newtownabbey in Co Antrim.

Police are appealing for information following the discovery of the crude but viable device on the Carnmoney Road last night at about 10pm.

The road was closed for a number of hours while a bomb disposal team made the device safe.

The PSNI said the device has been taken for forensic examination and urged anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to come forward.
