A major Defence Forces training exercise will take place across Dublin on Wednesday, starting from 12:30pm.

In an information notice the Defence Forces advised people not to be alarmed by the heavy presence of military vehicles and personnel involved in the action.

Over 500 Defence Forces members will be involved in the action, alongside members of An Garda Síochána.

The training event will include armoured military vehicles on the streets and helicopters in the air. The elite Army Ranger unit of the Defence Forces will also be involved.

A statement from the Defence Forces said “members of the public can expect to see military vehicles, armoured vehicles, helicopters and armed personnel involved in the exercise.

“We hope to keep any disruption to a minimum; however, this exercise is necessary to ensure that the Defence Forces are fully prepared when called upon.”
