That sinking feeling

Shop Front: Sink units with a basin shaped like a baptismal font were everywhere last year

Shop Front: Sink units with a basin shaped like a baptismal font were everywhere last year. Some were made of glass, some china, but they always sat on a table-like base.

The new must have in posh sinks sees the bowl replaced with a rectangular dish, again raised above a fitted table unit.

The glass one pictured left is by Italian manufacturer Agape and costs a whopping €2,195 at Haus (for one sink and base).

In fairness, it really is good quality stuff and likely to have a longer life in vogue than the original bowl. While Haus only has a small display of Agape in its Temple Bar shop, it's enough to judge the finish and feel confident ordering a bath or sink unit from the catalogue.

The bath on display is particularly good-looking, with a matt texture and extra wide shape.

It too is far from modestly priced: it costs €7,465! But it's worth it if you've got the cash.
