Soccer:Aston Villa have agreed a fee with Manchester City for the transfer of Republic of Ireland goalkeeper Shay Given, according to reports.

Given has been targeted as Villa’s replacement for Brad Friedel, who joined Tottenham Hotspur on a free transfer this summer.

Given failed to make a single Premier League appearance last season, with England’s Joe Hart preferred by Roberto Mancini at City.

Sky Sportsclaim that could all be about to change with a fee agreed today, but the Donegalman would still have to agree terms and pass a medical before any deal could go through.
