Soccer:Fulham have confirmed Republic of Ireland winger Damien Duff will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on an Achilles injury today.
The Dubliner has been ruled out for six weeks after, meaning he will miss Fulham's final three games of the season, Ireland's Carling Nations Cup games against Northern Ireland and Scotland later this month and the Euro 2012 qualifier against Macedonia in Skopje on June 4th.
Fulham boss Mark Hughes explained that the club had opted for surgery after treatment had not cured the problem.
“It just got to the point where one course of treatment was compromising another course of treatment," Hughes said. “We made a decision that the best route was to get it sorted.”
