Airtricity League round-up:Derry City's title hopes suffered a serious setback as Bray Wanderers eked out a 1-1 draw at the Brandywell, the Candystripes' second successive draw on home soil.

Bray opened the scoring five minutes before the break when Gary Dempsey floated over a corner from the right and with keeper, Gerard Doherty, opting to remain on his line, the unfortunate Ruaidhri Higgins headed into his own net.

Derry continued to press and their persistence finally paid off in the 74th minute when substitute Emmet Friars brought his side back into the game.

Following a throw-in on the right by Ruairi Harkin the ball was worked into the defender who let fly from 25 yards, the ball crashing into the net giving Quigley no chance.

Elsewhere, Bohemians and St Patrick’s Athletic fought out a 0-0 draw but both know that maximum points were what was really required to keep their title aspirations alive.

UCD had more luck in front of goal, wining 3-0 at home to Dundalk. Fresh from Monday’s impressive display in beating Bohemians, UCD oozed confidence as they equalled their biggest win of the season.

UCD took the lead on 35 minutes when Dean Marshall put the ball across and central defender David O’Connor scored with a downward header at the back post.

Four minutes later UCD doubled their lead when Marshall put right-back Hugh Douglas away on the overlap and his cross was controlled and drilled to the bottom corner by midfielder Paul O’Conor.

And substitute Chris Lyons added a third goal on 77 minutes, sliding in for his second senior goal for the club.
