A man was being questioned by the RUC yesterday about an incident in Coleraine, Co Derry, on Sunday night in which two men were attacked and injured by an intruder.
One man, in his 40s, was said to be seriously ill in hospital after being beaten with a spade by the intruder who broke into his flat at Washington Gardens. He sustained head and body injuries and a broken arm.
A second man, in his 50s, who was also attacked, was treated in hospital for facial wounds and discharged.
