The North's new Police Ombudsman, Ms Nuala O'Loan, will take up office today, heading 40 independent investigators charged with looking into complaints against the police. The RUC will investigate the 3,000 complaints already filed, with Ms O'Loan dealing with new complaints from today. The Ombudsman said some people had delayed filing complaints until her office was functioning.
