LONDON - An order of monks is forsaking its strict rules of silence to launch a television advertising campaign to save the monks' home island. The 16 brothers on Caldey Island, off the west Wales coast, were badly hit by the Sea Empress oil disaster. Now the monks have engaged a firm of accountants to draw up a marketing campaign to attract visitors.
