Man accused of trying to kill wife

A man was charged yesterday with attempting to murder his estranged wife at a flat in Belfast last weekend

A man was charged yesterday with attempting to murder his estranged wife at a flat in Belfast last weekend. Mr John William Ferris (50), of Drumart Lodge, Belvoir Estate, Belfast, appeared at the Magistrates' Court with his left arm in a sling.

Mr Ferris was also charged with aggravated burglary, wounding a man who was in the flat, and breaching a personal protection order.

A detective said Mr Ferris answered "No" to all the charges. He was remanded in custody until June 19th.
