Olympics - Equestrian: Denis Lynch and Lantinus recorded their first jumping penalties in Hong Kong when faulting at the water today but remain on course for a medal in the individual show jumping competition following another excellent round at Sha Tin.

Lynch also picked up two time penalties but, with all the the individual riders having jumped and the first two riders from most of the teams, he currently lies in fourth spot overall. The top 35 individuals will jump again in the first round on Thursday, the field then being whittled down to 20 who will compete for the medals.

At the halfway stage in the team event, the USA leads from The Netherlands and Norway with Britain sharing fourth place with Sweden.

The British team has been reduced to three riders following the decision of the appeals committee to overrule the ground jury who had given permission for John Whitaker to jump Pepermill although they didn't start yesterday.
