Military Guard Ceremony A ceremonial military guard is to parade in Dublin today as part of an initiative to remember members of the Defence Forces who died in service of the State. Members of the Air Corps from Casement Aerodrome and the 7th Infantry Battalion from Cathal Brugha Barracks, Dublin, will take part in the ceremony. The parade, starts at noon from Merrion Square. Similar events will take place at Merrion Square each Saturday until August 23rd.

Cutloose Country Festival Those looking for a hoedown this weekend should head for Holycross, Co Tipperary, where the Cutloose Country Festival takes place tomorrow.

The Holycross GAA grounds will host the event, which kicks off at 1pm and features artists such as Declan Nerney, Mike Denver, Louise Morrissey and Jimmy Buckley. Tickets cost €20 and are available locally. cutloosecountryfestival.com

Longitude The Longitude festival continues today and tomorrow in Marlay Park in Dublin with Massive Attack, James Vincent McMorrow, Le Galaxie and Disclosure among the headline acts.

The first acts take to the stage at 2pm on both days, with gates opening at 1.30pm.

Bray Air Display Thousands of people will be keeping an eye to the sky in Co Wicklow tomorrow while the Bray Air Display takes place on the town's seafront. The Vampires of the Norwegian Air Force Historical Squadron, the Black Knights Defence Forces Parachute Team and aerobatic pilots from the Ravens are among those participating in the spectacle, which kicks off at 3.30pm. Cork Cycling Festival The Cork Cycling Festival, a celebration of bicycle culture in the city, gets under way today. Organisers say it is about feeling the wind in your hair and getting people on their bikes is more than wearing lycra and travelling at great speed.

Long rides, shorter rides and really short rides around the city are on the schedule during the nine-day festival as well as workshops on bike repair and safety. There will be family friendly events such as picnics and barbecues.

The festival opens at Berwick’s Fountain on Grand Parade at 1pm today. More information is available from corkcyclingfestival.com
