Man dies after car and minibus collision in Co Longford

Collision occurred on N4 at Corboy, Edgeworthstown on Saturday

A man has died after a collision between a car and a minibus on the N4 in Edgeworthstown, Co Longford on Saturday night.

The 36-year-old man was seriously injured after a car and a minibus collided at about 11.10pm on Saturday on the main Dublin to Longford road at Corboy, Edgeworthstown. The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to the morgue at Mullingar Hospital.

A number of ambulances arrived at the scene where the 14 young minibus passengers and two adult passengers were treated.

The mini-bus driver was taken to Mullingar hospital where his injuries are described as not life threatening.

The road is closed while a forensic collision examination is carried out and diversions are in place.
