As part of the New Year’s Eve celebrations, Scoil Gheimhridh Ghaoth Dobhair presents Babhta Ceoil featuring a face-off with two of Ireland’s best known musical dynasty’s – Donegal’s, Na Mooney’s Vs’ west Kerry giants, Na Begley’s led by Séamus & Méabh Begley. This is a family friendly night, so BYOB.

Na Píobairí Uilleann presents Session with the Pipers, a monthly recital of traditional music and song. The first session of the new year features a rare Dublin appearance by fiddle and flute duet Maurice Bradley and Ciaran Kelly. Regular MC Noel Pocock will make a special appearance as guest piper and Dublin singer Anne Buckley will debut at the long-running concert series.

Friday, January 5th

An Góilín Singers Club

The Teachers’ Club, 36 Parnell Square, 9pm €3 goilin.com

Jerry O’Reilly, Fergus Russell, Frank Nugent, Mick Keeley, Antaine Ó Faracháin and Máire Ní Chróinín gather round to welcome the first night of the new season: a club night. A fine way to blow away the post-Christmas blues with a good dose of unaccompanied traditional song in any language. All singers, listeners and visitors welcome.
