As a streaming box, Apple TV works quite well as part of an iOS/Apple setup. The newest version of the device, which is due to go on sale within weeks, has been given a bit of a boost.

Not only is there a new operating system to deal with (TV OS), but it will now get apps that users can install just like their phones, tablet and other Apple devices. Siri has been extended to the TV device, so you can in theory use Apple's digital assistant to search across different services such as Netflix for specific programmes.

The new Apple TV brings back a bit of local storage, which will no doubt be filled within hours by downloading new apps. The fight for the hearts and minds of TV watchers hang in the balance.
