SIGERSON CUP FIRST ROUND: UCC 1-10 DIT 0-7:A SUPERB extra-time goal by Barry O'Driscoll settled yesterday's tie at the Mardyke in UCC's favour. The Nemo Rangers player, who didn't start the game because of injury, was sprung from the bench near the end of normal time and had a huge impact in extra-time, firing 1-1 to see the home side through.

Overall the match was a poor spectacle, with the teams tightly matched. It was 0-3 apiece at half-time, with David O’Callaghan pointing the way for UCC and Ross Glavin impressing at centre back for DIT.

After the break, UCC forged ahead but poor shooting prevailed as they racked up 20 wides over the hour. DIT’s Martin Reilly sent the game into extra-time with a 60th minute point .
