SCHOOLS' GAMES VINNIE MUARRAY CUP QUARTER-FINALS: CBC Monkstown 10 Skerries 3:TWO SECOND-half tries from Monkstown's Rob Hallam and Conor Martin secured Monkstown a hard-fought win against a Skerries team who will be disappointed that the final score-line didn't reflect their long periods of possession in yesterday's Leinster Schools' Vinnie Murray Cup encounter at Suttonians RFC.
Skerries took advantage of the strong wind at their backs when Paul O’Loghlen’s penalty inside five minutes sailed through the posts.
The game swung for Monkstown when Darren O’Brien’s excellent catch and off-load allowed Rob Hallam a clear run to the line just after the restart.
Monkstown’s second try came courtesy of Conor Martin following exceptional play which involved scrumhalf Stephen Woods, captain Aaron Sheehan and O’Brien.
