Ireland and Wasps openside Johnny O'Connor will not play again this season but will make a full recovery from the spinal concussion he suffered in the Powergen Cup final.

O'Connor is not expected to return to training with Wasps until pre-season, missing Ireland's tour to New Zealand and Australia in June.

O'Connor sustained the damage during a collision with Llanelli's Alix Popham at Twickenham two weeks ago and his recovery has been progressing well.

But the back row still has swelling and disruption of the neural system in his upper back and will not complete his rehabilitation until the summer.
