Leinster Schools Junior Cup/ St Gerard's 26; Templeogue College 17: Cailbhe Doherty and Darragh Byrne were the stars for St Gerard's yesterday, as they overcame Templeogue in a thrilling Leinster Junior Cup Section "B" tie in Kilternan.

Winger Doherty and full back Byrne helped themselves to two tries each.

Doherty also showed tremendous precision with the boot as he kicked over three of his four conversion attempts, all of them taken from particularly difficult angles.

Templeogue had gone into the break 10-5 up, but St Gerard's ran in three second-half tries.

Byrne set up Doherty's two tries before scoring a fantastic individual effort himself in injury-time to seal the win.

Templeogue's number eight, James Dunne, was superb in defeat - indeed, he scored all of College's points.

But it was his all-round ability as opposed to just his scoring that impressed.
