Raiders have escaped capture after an armed robbery at an insurance company on the Long Mile Road, Dublin this afternoon.

Raiders have escaped capture after an armed robbery at an insurance company on the Long Mile Road, Dublin this afternoon.

A Garda spokesman said that two men, one armed with a shotgun, entered the premises at 2.45pm forcing staff and customers to the floor. The men then escaped with a quantity of cash and cheques.

They fled the scene in a blue Volvo 80 Series car which was later found abandoned and is currently the subject of technical investigation.

One of the raiders is described as 170 cms in height, of stocky build and wearing a white jacket, blue tracksuit bottoms and white runners. The second culprit is described as 183 cms in height, also of stocky build and wearing a blue puffed jacket, beige jeans and white runners.

According to Gardaí, no shots were fired and nobody was injured.
