Man dies in Kildare motorway crash

A man in his late 40s was killed following a two-vehicle collision on the M4 eastbound, near Kinnegad at 9.50pm last night.

A man in his late 40s was killed following a two-vehicle collision on the M4 eastbound, near Kinnegad at 9.50pm last night.

The man was the sole occupant in the car he was driving, while a man in his 20s in the second car was taken to Connolly Hospital, Blanchardstown. His injuries are not life threatening.

The stretch of road was closed for a time last night for a Garda forensic examination, but has since been reopened.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision that may have been travelling on the M4 eastbound between the junctions for Enfield and Kinnegad near the entrance to the motorway service area about 9.50pm last night to contact Leixlip Garda station on 01-6667800, the Garda confidential telephone number 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
