A man (34) has died after the van he was driving collided with a lorry on the Limerick to Cork road (N20) approximately two miles outside Charleville.

After the crash, which happened at about 6.25am, the man was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the lorry suffered minor injuries.

According to AA Roadwatch, the N20 remains closed - for a Garda forensic examination - in both directions on the Charleville side of O’Rourke's Cross, and traffic is being diverted through Bruff.

Witnesses are asked to contact the gardaí in Bruff on 061 940382 or any Garda station.
