1997: FF 29.94%; FG 15.50%; Lab 9.72%; PD 13.64%; GP 3.14%; SF 8.90%; DL 12.17%; SP 4.84%; Others 2.15%.Outgoing TDs: Chris Flood and Conor Lenihan (FF); Brian Hayes (FG); Pat Rabbitte (Lab); Mary Harney (PD).

Next to Kerry North, this is Sinn Féin's best hope of a gain. Watch out for the first-round results of SF's Seán Crowe, FF's Charlie O'Connor and Labour's Pat Rabbitte, or indeed Fine Gael's Brian Hayes - if his party's vote has imploded elsewhere in Dublin. FF got less than 30% here in 1997, so a swing could occur, seeing O'Connor joining running-mate, Conor Lenihan, in the Dáil. Rabbitte's first preferences will show whether he can resist the challenge from FF and SF. A high turnout could show whether SF has mobilised the disaffected vote.
