The Dáil Select Committee on Members’ Interests is to seek further clarification from Independent TD Mick Wallace in relation to his tax affairs, it said in a statement yesterday.
The committee released a statement after it met in private session again yesterday.
The committee is examining the issues raised by the Wexford TD’s admission that he knowingly made a false VAT declaration in respect of his construction company MJ Wallace Ltd.
It had received certain information from Mr Wallace but would “again write to him seeking clarification on some aspects of his response,” the statement said.
The committee was “hopeful” it could reach a conclusion at its next meeting which is expected to take place next week, it added.
