A man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a collision involving a Garda patrol car and one other vehicle in Co Monaghan on Saturday.

At about 11.20pm on March 21st, a car collided with the rear of a Garda car that had pulled over to assist another broken-down vehicle on the hard shoulder on the N2 in Moyles.

A Garda spokesman said that everybody at the scene was taken to Cavan Monaghan Hospital as a precaution, but none suffered serious injuries.

There was a lot of damage done to the vehicles, the spokesman said.

Gardaí said the man has since been released and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
