Aer Lingus has said it is committed to full engagement with staff and their representatives, when they return to the Labour Relations Commission this morning. Olivia Kelly reports.
A company spokeswoman said it had been "working through the process" at the LRC for a number of months and would continue that work this morning in the same committed manner.
Her comments follow accusations from SIPTU's national industrial secretary, Mr Michael Halpenny, that aircraft cleaning staff were being denied the right to due process at the LRC.
On RTÉ's This Week yesterday, Mr Halpenny said the integrity of talks about outsourcing services at Aer Lingus would be threatened if the airline did not agree to abide by normal industrial relations procedures.
Aer Lingus said last week that cleaning services would be carried out by an external contractor from the beginning of next month. Industrial action would follow if the airline did not change this position, Mr Halpenny said.
The Aer Lingus spokeswoman said she did not know what Mr Halpenny was referring to when he said the company was not using normal industrial relations procedures. "Aer Lingus is fully committed to this process," she said.
