Two-day summit to focus on digital age

Understanding the technologies powering digital change and the role of governance and risk in the digital age will be among the topics explored at the Innovation Value Institute (IVI) autumn summit this week.

The two-day conference will look at digital business and how is it impacting on enterprise, as well as the governance demands created by disruptive technologies. “There needs to be more collaboration and understanding between both the business and IT communities,” said Carol Murphy, an IT advisory lead at IVI patron company EY said. Ms Murphy added that developments such as big data analytics are changing the role of company IT officers.

“Historically CIOs had to have strong technical skills and knowledge of IT infrastructure and operations. Now they need to have strong business understanding and commercial acumen to interpret and anticipate the needs of the business.”

NUI Maynooth president Philip Nolan, UPC chief information officer Henry Minogue, Cisco enterprise architect Mats Rygaard, Accenture Ireland head of digital Vicky Godolphin and Kingspan CIO John Shaw will be among the speakers at the summit. An IT management framework, developed by Ireland's Innovation Value Institute (IVI), is being used by companies worldwide to deliver value and innovation.
