Eircom chief executive Richard Moat dashed from Belfast down to Dublin on Monday morning for the UCD Smurfit Business Journalist Awards, which it sponsors.

Eir has also been nominated for its own European PR Excellence Award, as it happens, for the public relations campaign surrounding its €16 million rebrand from Eircom earlier this year. You couldn't have missed the rebrand. The PR campaign, with Fleishman, has lasted three months and counting.

Eir is one of five nominated in the UK and Ireland category, along with Unilever Ireland's Surf laundry club at Electric Picnic, and the "With Dignity and Honour" campaign to rebury King Richard III at Leicester Cathedral.
