The Irish Small and Medium Enterprises Association (ISME) has submitted proposals for a profit-sharing scheme focused on smaller companies to the Department of Finance.

It said legislation introduced in 1985 discriminates against small and medium-sized Irish companies and it is proposing that the legislation be amended to allow "shares in the company in which the employee is employed" to be issued under profit sharing schemes.
