As many as two in five Irish holidaymakers who hired a car overseas last year experienced difficulties, according to a new report from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC).

Between long waiting times, hidden fees and misleading descriptions, the problems have continued with 78 contacts about car rental issues raised with the watchdog in 2026 so far.

As the CCPC urges holidaymakers to take precautions this summer when renting a car abroad, we want to hear from our readers.
