Speculation is rife that former Roscommon footballer Frankie Dolan is set to join up with Westmeath - which would see him team up with his first cousins Dessie and Gary.

Dolan, one of the stars of St Brigid's recent victory in the Connacht club championship, was linked with Westmeath last year but speculation is now intensifying that the move is about to take place. It is understood that he met with Westmeath officials in recent weeks.

However Dolan will remain with St Brigid's, who are now preparing for an All-Ireland semi-final clash with mighty Crossmaglen Rangers next month. He is currently serving a suspension for an incident in the Connacht final win over Corofin, but will be free in time to face the Armagh champions.

Westmeath are said to be looking at ways in which Dolan would be entitled to declare for the county and this could include a claim that he is eligible through being born in Westmeath.
