Soccer:Sligo Rovers hammered Galway United 8-0 at Terryland Park to keep up their one-point lead over Shamrock Rovers at the top of the Airtricity League Premier Division tonight.

Eoin Doyle started the rout after just five minutes with his 15th league goal of the season with Richie Ryan on 16 minutes and Raffaele Cretaro (34) making it 3-0.

Galway had Eduardo Dusi sent off in the 36th minute with the visitors capitalising to go in 5-0 at the break Matthew Blinkhorn scoring twice in five minutes.

Blinkhorn completing his hat-trick in the 74th minute, with an own goal from Paul Sinnott and Doyle’s second completing the misery for the home side.
