St Patrick's Athletic have been drawn against Swedish side Elfsborg in the Uefa Cup second qualifying round after their 3-0 aggregate win over JFK Olimps.

Manchester City and Aston Villa were handed seemingly straight forward draws.

Mark Hughes' side, who qualified due to their impressive disciplinary record, will take on Danish side FC Midtjylland while Intertoto Cup winners Villa face Icelanders Hafnarfjordur.

John McDonnell's side will be away in the first leg on August 14th and the return leg will be two weeks later.

It is a difficult draw for Ireland's only remaining side after Cork City were knocked out by FC Haka, who were drawn against Danish side Brondby today.

Elfsborgs won their sixth league title in 2006, have featured in the Uefa Cup three times since the turn of the century and are currently one point off the top of the Sewdish top division behind Kalmar.

In the last round they beat FK Riga 1-0 on aggregate thanks to a goal from Denni Avdi in the first leg at home in Boras.

They are aiming to reach their second consecutive group stage of the competition. Last year they struggled in a group containing Villareal, Fiorentina, Mladá Boleslav and AEK Athens, procuring just one point from the latter.

Elsewhere, Scottish side Queen of the South will play Danish outfit Nordsjalland after reaching this stage by virtue of their inspiring run to the Scottish Cup final last season, where they lost to Rangers.
