Harry Redknapp has hinted Portsmouth are attempting to push through a late deal to sell striker Benjani Mwaruwari to Manchester City.

Reports this morning claim the Premier League are examining the paperwork of the 29-year-old's proposed move from Fratton Park after City missed last night's midnight deadline for completing the transfer.

Pompey boss Redknapp remains in the dark as to why City failed to file all the necessary paperwork on time but revealed chief executive Peter Storrie was in discussions with the Premier League this morning.

"Man City sent half the forms off and I'm not sure where it went from there," Redknapp said. "I know that Peter Storrie was told that the deal was done. Peter's on the case this morning with the Premier League, seeing where we go with it."
