MUNSTER SCHOOLS' SENIOR CUP: PBC 16 Ardscoil Rís 3:PBC SCORED the only try of this game at Rosbrien and that proved decisive in the heavy underfoot conditions.

The Cork side led 6-0 at the interval thanks to two penalties by outhalf Seán Óg Murphy.

Ardscoil Rís kept in touch when Jamie Gavin landed a penalty but the game’s only try was scored by centre Daniel Horgan and the deadly accurate Murphy added the points and in the final minutes Murphy made doubly sure of victory with his third penalty.

THE HEAVY rain put an end to the admirable efforts of both teams to move the ball about in a closely contested Avonmore Munster Schools’ Senior Cup tie at Dooradoyle yesterday in which last season’s winners were unable to make a winning defence of their title.

The heavier CBC pack had the advantage in the first half but by half-time all they could manage was a penalty by Seán Glynn.

It never looked as if this lead would suffice but as the game dragged on Crescent could not manage a try either.

Shane O’Brien levelled the scores with a penalty and then he gave his side victory when he landed a second.
