FAI CUP/Derry City...1 St Kevin's Boys...0: Derry City finally progressed to a quarter-final meeting with UCD at Belfield, but manager Kevin Mahon was far from happy with the performance.

Following Thursday night's 6-1 demolition of Monaghan United in the league another avalanche of goals was expected by the home crowd but Derry failed to oblige on this occasion.

And the fact that this replay was decided by an own goal, told its own story. The unfortunate villain was St Kevin's centre-half, Stephen Higgins who could do little when Gareth McGlynn's scuffed shot cannoned off his legs and into the net in the 54th minute.

In what proved a bitterly disappointing game, Derry failed to get any fluency into their play, the performance against Monaghan a distant memory.
