LEINSTER COLLEGES SH A FIRST ROUND: Coláiste Eoin (Dublin)1-16 St Mary's CBS (Enniscorthy) 4-4:FULL-FORWARD Seán McGrath, who finished the game with a tally of 1-10, inspired Coláiste Eoin to an impressive victory over St Mary's CBS at Enniscorthy yesterday afternoon.
The Dublin college dominated for lengthy periods but three goals from centre-forward Colm Kehoe kept St Mary’s in contention, leading to a very tense finish.
With McGrath striking over some excellent points from frees Coláiste Eoin dominated early on but Kehoe’s first goal one minute before the break left the sides level 0-7 to 1-4 at the interval.
Coláiste Eoin built up a 1-12 to 2-4 lead by the 42nd minute but two Kehoe goals in a minute turned things around, with St Mary’s now leading 4-4 to 1-12.
Just to demonstrate their dominance, however, Coláiste Eoin finished with four unanswered through McGrath, Donal Sutcliffe, Marc Schvitte and Jude McSuibhne to clinch their second-round passage.
