BUCANEERS - 61 DLSP - 0: DLSP's Division One relegation plight worsened on Saturday when Buccaneers ran rampant with a nine-try spree in Ericsson Park. Buccaneers' contracted players provided the momentum - their pack delivering an embarrassing amount of riches for Tim Allnutt, Darren Yapp, Ted Robinson, and Wayne Munn. But it was number eight Colm Rigney who took the honours with four tries.
Outhalf Justin Meagher was the perfect link-man in many of Buccaneers' tries - the first coming after two minutes from flanker Eoin Brennan. When Meagher added the conversion and two penalties after 13 minutes, and DLSP's prop Keith Tate was yellow carded, the floodgates opened.
Rigney powered over from the back of a five-metre scrum, and left wing Ted Robinson crossed for the third try after 31 minutes.Such was the Buccaneers' superiority that their bonus point was achieved two minutes later when full back Wayne Munn crashed over, and before the break Rigney had added his second to lead DLSP by 37-0.
When Robinson crossed after a useful break from scrumhalf Conor O'Loughlin, DLSP's heads dropped. Buccaneers added two more tries from Rigney and one from O'Loughlin, giving Buccaneers a record league win.
