European Shield - Pau 9 London Irish 38: London Irish made it a great day for the Irish in France as they followed up Munster's victory in Paris over Stade Francais in the quarter-finals of the Heineken Cup with victory in Pau to reach the semi-finals of the Parker Pen Shield.

It was the boot of Barry Everitt that laid the foundation for victory as he kicked four penalties in the opening half. But when he failed to return for the second half, stand-in James Brown took over his mantle.

Brown kicked three penalties, dropped a goal and converted his side's two second-half tries, from Paul Sackey and Mike Worsley, to turn the score into something of a rout.
