Sir, – Robbie Kitt is obviously too young to remember the dance-halls of 1952, as I am myself (“Should licensing laws be relaxed?”, Opinion & Analysis, April 9th). However, if they were like the dance-halls of the Sixties, he’s missed an important point: most were minerals only. “What about a Fanta, clubbers?”
There’d be fewer objections to the proposed night-club hours if they operated on that basis, and the street-cleaners in Temple Bar might be grateful as well.
